The Department of Economics of AIUB has organized its annual day long ECO FEST on 18 April 2019 at AIUB permanent campus. The theme of this year’s program was ‘Socio Economic Changes in Bangladesh and Global Context’ and the activities were designed for the college students and for the students of AIUB. 24 Colleges along with the students of AIUB participated the event.
Muhammad Abdul Mannan, MP, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Planning, The People’s Republic of Bangladesh, was the Chief guest for the closing ceremony and distributed the prizes among the winners. Dr. Md. Nuruzzaman, Director (Training), National Academy for Planning and Development, was the special guest for the ECO FEST event.
The Minister, M A Mannan, asked the students to be prepared for the future challenges and requested them to be dedicated in their respective responsibilities, duties, & goals. He has asked the students to understand the history of liberation and showed them the path to follow to keep Bangladesh safe from any external obstruction.
The Vice Chancellor of AIUB, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, acknowledged the importance of the day long activities organized by the Department of Economics and encouraged the students to be involved more in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.
Dr. Rahmatullah ABM, the Head of the Department of Economics, expressed gratitude to the management of AIUB and sponsor ‘daraz’ to make this program successful.
Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam, Dean of FASS, gave vote of thanks and encouraged the winners and participants of different events with his inspiration speech.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Treasure and Founder of AIUB, Dr. Hasanul A. Hasan, Deans, Academic and Administrative staff, students, participants from colleges and alumni of the department and all the faculty members of the Department of Economics. History and culture of Bangladesh was displayed through a cultural program at the end.
