Beyond the Balance Sheet: Financial Accounting Contest Spring 2026

The Department of Accounting successfully organized a Financial Accounting Quiz Competition for the freshman students on 28 April 2026 (Tuesday) with the aim of encouraging academic excellence and enhancing students’ analytical and problem-solving skills in accounting education. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of all freshman sections, creating a vibrant and competitive academic atmosphere within the department.

Participants in the competition were selected based on their outstanding performance in the mid-term examinations. A total of 42 students from seven sections competed in the contest, demonstrating remarkable enthusiasm, knowledge, and competitive spirit throughout the event.

The prize-giving ceremony of the competition was held on 5 May 2026 (Tuesday) in the presence of distinguished faculty members and academic leaders of the Faculty of Business Administration. The ceremony was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, Dean-In-Charge, FBA who highly appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of organizing such academic competitions regularly to create a motivating and intellectually stimulating environment for students. He mentioned that co-curricular academic activities play a significant role in developing students’ confidence, teamwork, and professional competence.

In the competition, Sadiq Sadat Rahman secured the position of Champion, while Himel Chowdhury Abir became the 1st Runner-up and Hassan Shah Nadimul achieved the position of 2nd Runner-up. Walid Bin Ali and Muskan Ali Esha secured the 4th and 5th positions respectively for their commendable performances.

During the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain and Dr. Partha Prasad Chowdhury, Director in Charge (BBA Program), distributed crests among the winners and congratulated all participants for their active engagement and academic dedication.

Dr. Kamrul Hasan, Head of Department of Accounting, delivered vote of thanks and expressed his appreciation to the organizers and participating students for making the event successful. He also congratulated the winners and encouraged students to continue pursuing academic excellence through active participation in such educational initiatives.

The concluding session of the ceremony was conducted by Dr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Director (MBA Program), who distributed certificates among the participants and delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the importance of academic competitions in shaping students’ future careers and leadership qualities.

The event was organized by Saeeda Tajrian, Lecturer; Sazia Afrin, Assistant Professor; and Siam Mohammad, Lecturer, Department of Accounting.

The competition created a memorable and inspiring experience for the freshman students at the beginning of their university life. The event not only encouraged healthy academic competition among students but also motivated them to become more engaged in their studies and future co-curricular academic activities. The department hopes to continue arranging such initiatives in the future to foster academic growth, creativity, and professional development among students.
