The AIUB Moot Team achieved high recognition by winning the “Best Memorial Award” at the 15th Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition, hosted by Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) on November 8-9, 2024, and organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The AIUB team, consisting of Animesh Sutradhar, Kohinoor Akter, and MD Rabby, was coached by Rawnak Miraj Ul Azam, Lecturer in the Department of Law.
This prestigious event brought together law students from universities across the nation to advocate on critical issues in international humanitarian law. With their outstanding written submissions AIUB team won the Best Memorial Award, highlighting the team’s dedication, quality of research, and analytical rigor. Among all the competing teams, only 16 were selected to progress to the oral rounds based on the strength of their memorials, underscoring the significance of this award.
The competition, launched by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), aims primarily to foster the study and understanding of international humanitarian law among university students in South Asia, including Bangladesh. It serves as a platform for students to deepen their knowledge of international humanitarian law, promoting awareness and expertise in this important area within the South Asian region.
