For the 2nd time in AIUB, the Department of Marketing, American International University- Bangladesh organized a successful event, entitled AIUB Marketing Day 2011 on December 07, 2011 in Campus 1 & Campus 5. The day long festivity marked the joyous feel of togetherness, creativity and zest of sparks in the marketing minds.
The Honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna inaugurated the festival by cutting the Cake and starting off the Rally. Prof. Dr. Tafazzal Hossain, Vice President-Academics, Prof. M.A. Quaiyum, Registrar, Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Md. Maksudur Rahman Sarker, Director, AQAC, Dr. Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury, Director, BBA Program, Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Director, MBA Program, Dr. ABM Rahmatullah, Head, Department of Economics, Mr. Zobair Shibli, Head, Department of Marketing and Faculties from Department of Marketing and other departments were present during the inauguration ceremony. Then the Honorable Vice Chancellor drew graffiti on the symbolic wall. The program started off with singing of our National Anthem as a salute to our 40 Years of Independence.  After the National Anthem all the Students, Faculties, Officers and Staffs enjoyed Sweets distributed by the Department of Marketing. The rally was decorated with big Banners, Logos, Life Size replicas of famous brands both Global and Local, students and faculties dressed in Marketing day T-shirts, Motor driven Rickshaws with Faculties on them. After the colorful carnival, Faculties walked Honorable Vice Chancellor to the study area where Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) students had a traditional “Pitha Exhibition” which was coordinated by Mr. Golam Mostofa, Faculty, Tourism and Hospitality Management Department. Honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna also visited different events organized by the Faculties and Marketing Major students which included Poster Competition, coordinated by Ms. Farzana Choudhury, Faculty, Department of Marketing. The theme of the competition was, “Why students should take Marketing as Major”. Judging was done by voting and top three posters were awarded with Crests in the closing ceremony. The next event was Innova, a unique product design competition was coordinated and arranged by Dr. Md. Ziaul Hoq, Faculty, Department of Marketing. Fifteen participating groups of Marketing Major Courses presented their unique product idea which was eventually judged by the Faculty Members of the Marketing Department. Distinguished guests from The City Bank Limited and Honorable Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Charles C. Villanueva also visited those events. After the competition, a thoughtful Seminar was held at the AIUB Auditorium. The guest speaker was Mr. Nazmul Karim Chowdhury, Vice President & Head of Brand, Brand Communications & Marketing Division, The City Bank Limited. He enlightened the students with different aspects of branding brand management. The students from different Marketing courses attended the seminar. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration expressed his vote of thanks and presented Certificate of Appreciation to the invited guest speaker. Dr. Ehsanul Huda CHowdhury, Mr. Zobair Shibli and other faculties from the Department of Marketing were present at that time. During lunch break, a special home-made Lunch was served by the Department of Marketing to all the Business Faculties, Officers, Volunteers and others. Mr. Golam Mostofa and his Team took the lead initiatives to prepare and distribute the foods. After lunch break the event continued with Talk IB a one of a kind talk show with International Business Faculty members, Alumni students and current IB students. The Talk Show was moderated by Ms. Mahreen Mamoon with Ms. Mansura Rahmatullah. Ms. Farzana Choudhury made a closing note too. Four Alumni answered various career concerns and prospects of the department’s progress with current students. As the event came near to closing, the students of Brand and Product Management of Ms. Mahreen Mamoon arranged a fun Drama based on Ad Spoofmaking parody of famous Bangladeshi Television Commercials. The audiences appreciated the light humor. After the drama, the faculties of Marketing Department along with the Dean, Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Dr. Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury, Mr. Zobair Shibli took part in a friendly Fun Quiz and Game Show arranged by Ms. Mahreen Mamoon. The faculty tug of war ended with fun gifts.
