AIUB CS Festival-2012
On 4th and 5th October 2012, AIUB Computer Club (ACC) organized AIUB CS Festival-2012 on campus 4 premises and campus 1 study area. The event was sponsored by bKash and Workspace Infotech.The occasion was aimed to boast academic acumen, team spirit, innovation and social awareness amongst students. The prime focus of this endeavor was to connect enterprise with academia in order to address technological needs that can promote business achievement. The two day long festival was inaugurated at 0900 hrs on Wednesday, 4th October 2012 by the Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna assisted by the Dean, Faculty of Science and IT Professor Dr. Tafazzal Hossain from AIUB campus 4 with the slogan “Explore Your Creative Minds”. Faculties and students putting on AIUB CS FEST vest brought out colorful rally decorated with banners that encircled all the campuses of AIUB. The events succeeded the rally were Poster Presentation, Software Exhibition and System Design Competition. The presentation dexterity, intelligently crafted posters and innovative software showcase were highly appreciated by the spectators especially from different renowned software firms. The day concluded with a jubilant Football Match between faculties and students. The second day started with expectations when six (06) entrepreneurs anchored on campus 4 seeking for potential graduates to recruit. After a daylong session 23 brilliant and industries students were hired by various software firms. Intra AIUB Programming Contest was another notable event worth mentioning. Young minds flocked together to conquer the logical world of problems in a 5 hour long epic battle. The event followed with sharing of Success Stories by successful CS alumni. The closing ceremony was the final event of the festival that honored volunteers, judges and participants in 4 different categories. Professor Dr. M. A. Qaiyum, Professor Dr. Tazul Islam, Professor Dr. A.B.M Siddque Hossain, Dr. Md. Shamim Akhter and Mr. Mahiour Rahman were kind enough to give away the prizes amongst the achiever. Finally, Dean Faculty of Science and IT, Professor Dr. Tafazzal Hossain gave the vote of thanks to all concerned for rendering their support and doing arduous task to make the Festival a success. Before, declaring the closing of the festival all faculties and students showed their heartfelt respect to the late Chairman Dr. Anwarul Abedin by standing and remaining silent for 2 minutes.
