Cisco recently concluded its’ annual Asia-Pacific Regional Conference at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam held at Hotel Sheraton Saigon between December 10-13th, 2008. At the conference an award ceremony was held for recognition of exceptional performances by Cisco Networking Academies across the APAC Region including Australia and New Zealand. This year out of over 1400 academies across the APAC region, the American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) received 2 prestigious awards from Cisco for exceptional performances in different areas. The first award was for “Exceptional Performance as a Cisco Networking Academy across the Asia Pacific region in the year 2008” and the second award was for “Outstanding Performance as a Quality Assurance Academy across the Asia Pacific Region in the year 2008”. AIUB is blessed to be the only institution from Bangladesh to have ever received such high achievement awards of international standing from Cisco. It may be worth mentioning that AIUB had recorded the highest CCNA student enrollment of any Cisco academy in the Asia Pacific Region. This year CISCO has upgraded AIUB from local academy status to a Regional Academy to further promote their e-Learning based ICT education program in Bangladesh and other SAARC countries. Additionally, the AIUB Cisco Academy has also been appointed as the only Quality Assurance Academy for Bangladesh, Maldives, and Sri Lanka. Mr. Hasanul A. Hasan, Vice President & Member Board of Trustees of AIUB, says that these recognitions by a world-class organization such as Cisco is a testimony to the long term vision of AIUB on its’ journey of becoming a world-class university. He also mentioned that AIUB is proud to have the highest enrollment of CSE students amongst private universities in Bangladesh, mainly due to its’ commitment and focus in the area of ICT education. Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Vice Chancellor of AIUB, and the current President of the Association of University Presidents of Asia and Pacific, on being handed over the crests and award certificates congratulated the CEC management, but also mentioned that there should is no place for complacency, as the pursuit of excellence is a never ending journey.
