Abstract
This study explores the factors that influence Bangladeshi students' decisions to study abroad, aiming to identify key determinants and predict future trends. Using a large dataset from the last 15 years, this study identifies important factors that influence students' decisions to pursue an international education, including academic goals, field of study preferences, information availability, employment opportunities, and financial accessibility. This study employed a quantitative approach, utilizing a large dataset collected from surveys and official academic records of Bangladeshi students. Key variables analyzed included academic performance, socioeconomic status, field of study preferences, and urban vs. rural backgrounds. The results show that students are more willing to study overseas if they have excellent academic records and stronger financial support. One of the main inspirations is the possibility of greater career and income prospects abroad. This study’s results will propose ideas on how to give students from less fortunate backgrounds greater opportunities to study abroad. Policymakers and educational institutions can use this data to inform the development of programs that will assist Bangladeshi students in reaching their international academic and career objectives.
