Abstract
The traditional textile manufacturing processes lead to substantial material waste, take more time to produce, and have excessive human error, inefficiency, and increased cost. CAD software such as Lectra, OptiTex Ltd., Adobe Illustrator, etc, has significantly contributed to the textile and apparel industries by achieving efficient production through design precision, optimization for material utilization, and design automation. With CAD software, crucial processes like pattern making, grading, virtual prototyping in 3D, and automated fabric cutting are served more efficiently, allowing for less error and enhanced production speed. CAD will enhance manufacturers' productivity and design patterns and make it possible to do digital correction on the time and sample process, thus leading to advances in sustainability. This study will use primary data obtained through expert surveys on the use and efficacy of CAD. The survey results show that the investigation also reveals the expansion of the CAD application in textiles, particularly for pattern designing and design accuracy. The most common is Adobe Illustrator. The most significant advantages are time and material saving, while the most important barriers are excessive costs, shortage of qualified personnel, and few training centers. Integration of CAD will lead to diversity in the production process, lowering waste and minimizing time consumption. CAD, when automated, will reduce errors, improve fabric utilization, and lower costs. Furthermore, predictive modeling and digital prototyping will improve time efficiency as design corrections are sped up. Further, CAD adoption will enhance sustainability through the reduction in fabric waste and an overall reduction in energy consumption. This research shows how CAD will be transformative in improving efficiency and sustainability in textile manufacturing. And how future advances in AI, cloud-based platforms, and smart fabric simulation will enhance its impact further.
