Abstract

Research Area: As comfort becomes a growing part of modern life, the demand for household electrical and electronic appliances has risen rapidly. Devices such as refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, vacuum cleaners, and air conditioners have significantly simplified daily chores. These appliances save both time and effort, while also enhancing the overall quality of life. However, alongside these advantages come notable drawbacks, including excessive electricity consumption, electrical accidents, potential health risks, and environmental pollution. This research explores how the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in these appliances can both mitigate and exacerbate such challenges. Objectives: The objective of this research is to analyze the benefits of using AI in domestic appliances in everyday life by making tasks more convenient. It also focuses on the problems that can occur while using AI, such as data privacy and security risks. The study examines how reliable these systems really are in real-life. Therefore, the study aims to evaluate the pros and cons of using AI in domestic appliances to promote smarter living without compromising safety or privacy. Methodology: This study followed a mixed research approach. First, a thorough review of current literature was conducted, focusing on recent studies, industry reports, and conference papers related to the use of artificial intelligence in household appliances. To complement this, user opinions were gathered from forums and online surveys to understand practical experiences with these devices. Additionally, performance comparisons were made between AI-enabled appliances and traditional ones, considering factors like energy use, time savings, and user satisfaction. The research also examined privacy and security issues by analyzing real cases where smart home systems faced vulnerabilities or data breaches. Results: Findings from the research show that AI-integrated appliances offer significant advantages in terms of ease and efficiency. For example, smart thermostats have been shown to lower energy usage by up to 20%, and robotic vacuum cleaners help save time on regular chores. However, the study also highlighted important concerns. Many users feel uneasy about the amount of data these devices collect and how that data is stored or shared. Some devices were also found to be at risk due to weak security protocols or outdated software. Despite these issues, most users reported a positive experience overall, suggesting that the benefits of AI in household appliances often outweigh the drawbacks when proper safety measures are in place.
