Abstract

This paper describes SmartParkX, an IoT-based smart parking system that incorporates RFID access control, infrared slot detection, and a web-based interface for real-time monitoring and gate automation. SmartParkX utilizes an Arduino Mega to handle the sensor and RFID components and an ESP8266 to provide Wi-Fi access and a hosted dynamic dashboard. An RFID tag on an entrance gate will allow authorized vehicles to enter the parking facility, and the infrared sensors will sense the slot availability in that parking space. A secure administrator panel facilitates manual control of the gate, access to the logs, and simulates a QR-based payment method. Through real-time communication, users exchange data to track car history, calculate cost, and slot state. SmartParkX provides a low-cost solution that is scalable for modern urban parking challenges and changing needs in a parking industry by providing a fully integrated ecosystem of automation, visibility and build user digital interaction.
