Abstract

Background: The progress of technology has influences on every person’s life in both positive and negative ways. As more people are relying on digital services their privacy protection has become a major concern. And it is important to maintain the protection of their privacy as people are often left vulnerable which compromises their privacy. Therefore, public awareness and proper steps are essential to improve personal data security. The objective of this research is to evaluate the knowledge of personal data protection and explore privacy issues related to data security and analyze the efforts and adoption of various data protection strategies. Methodology: This research involves a qualitative approach, analyzing the data collected through surveys targeting a diverse sample of individuals using descriptive statistics. The analysis will be applied to examine privacy vulnerabilities and requirements, the ratio of awareness of data security and actions and to find out the commonly used strategies to protect privacy. Expected Outcomes: Based on the assumption that people are less aware of their privacy when they find the technology convenient, we expect to reveal 30-50% of people may not be taking proper steps to protect their data while 70-80% of people might be aware of personal data protection and clarity of privacy policies. The study also expects to highlight the adoption of tools for security practices. Conclusion: The research aims to improve our knowledge of how individuals protect their information. The study will inform about future initiatives to improve public awareness and develop more advanced security tools that will improve data protection in the future.
