Abstract

Pet safety is a significant concern for pet owners. Traditional tracking systems often lack real-time updates or environmental monitoring, increasing risks to pets. To address these issues, this research introduces PawsTrack, a smart IoT-enabled device that combines GPS tracking with environmental monitoring. The system utilizes an ESP32 microcontroller, a GPS module, a GSM module, and a DHT22 temperature sensor to deliver real-time location and temperature data. Solar power with a battery setup and an LM2596 voltage regulator ensures continuous operation, making it a sustainable solution. Enhanced features include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities provided by the ESP32, enabling seamless connectivity with smartphones and smart home devices. Additionally, geofencing alerts notify pet owners if their pets leave predefined safe zones, improving proactive monitoring. Pet owners receive instant updates via SMS and push notifications, allowing them to track their pet’s location and monitor environmental conditions. Extensive testing of the implemented system demonstrated high accuracy in location tracking and consistent temperature readings, with minimal response delays. These features help pet owners locate pets quickly and safeguard their health in extreme conditions. PawsTrack provides a reliable, feature-rich, and user-friendly tool for enhancing pet safety and addressing limitations in existing tracking systems.
