Abstract
AI has opened new horizons of possibilities for sustainable development, and the agriculture sector is one of them, which serves as a fundamental pillar of the economy in Bangladesh. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of AI integration on farmers' crop yield, income, and poverty levels. For analyzing this study, secondary data were collected covering the period from 2013 to 2023 from diverse sources, including FAO STAT, BBS HIES Reports, World Bank Open Data, a2i Programme, Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), ICT Division – Startup Bangladesh. By utilizing this data, this study aims to predict the AI integration by analyzing key factors such as crop yield, rural poverty rate, and farm income as dependent outcomes, while AI-related indicators such as mobile penetration, use of digital advisory services, SMS-based agro-advisory coverage, AI-driven agri-startups, fertilizer use efficiency, access to weather forecasts, and government spending serve as independent variables. A quantitative methodology, including correlation and trend analysis, investigates that AI integration significantly improves productivity and economic stability. The findings indicate the average Crop Yield has steadily increased. 2013 average Crop Yield was 3.7 while in 2023 it was 4.7. The overall increase is 27% which highlights that due to Government Spending on Digital Agriculture, average crop yield rapidly increased. Since 2013 average income has increased by 77.22 % and the rural poverty rate has reduced from 32.3% to 21.3%. The analysis evaluates the continuous contribution of AI in enhancing sustainable agriculture and upgrading farmers' livelihoods.
