Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the influence of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) access on educational quality and digital inclusion in Bangladesh. The objectives include analyzing the trend in ICT adoption and accessibility in Bangladesh over the past decade and a half. Another goal of the study is to show correlation between ICT penetration and key educational outcomes, such as enrollment rates across primary, secondary and tertiary levels and adult literacy rate, as well as important socio-economic indicators including poverty levels and GDP per capita. Methods: The study uses a quantitative approach utilizing secondary data from publicly available sources. The dataset variables include population statistics, internet usage, mobile and fixed broadband subscriptions, household computer penetration, gross enrollment ratios (primary, secondary, tertiary), adult literacy rates, poverty headcount ratios, and GDP per capita. The analysis will involve statistical methods such as correlation and regression to identify the relationship between ICT indicators, educational metrics, and socio-economic variables. Results: Preliminary findings indicate a significant increase in ICT penetration across Bangladesh. This growth correlates positively with educational enrollment and literacy rate, suggesting that digital tools facilitate boarder accessibility for learning. The study also shows a positive correlation between ICT inclusion and socio-economic factors like poverty and GDP per capita. Conclusion: The research ultimately concludes that while Bangladesh has made considerable strides in ICT adoption which in turn led to better education and impacted socio-economic positively, its full potential is yet to be achieved.
