Abstract

Livestock is one of the important sectors in the Bangladesh economy. It contributes much to GDP, employment, and food security. However, a lot of challenges are faced in this sector, which includes poor management of diseases, inexperienced utilization of resources, and suboptimal environmental control, hence reduced productivity. IoT technology in livestock farming addresses such challenges effectively by enabling data-driven decision-making and enhancing efficiency within the farm. The study will find the potential of IoT-based technologies in improving livestock productivity and operational efficiency in Bangladesh. This study finds the potentiality of IoT-enabled devices in enhancing livestock productivity and operational efficiency in Bangladesh. This study intends to find the exact applications of IoT solutions in monitoring animal health, optimizing feeding schedules, and controlling environmental factors for better living among livestock. The methodology followed will be a mixed-method approach: primary data are from the survey and in-depth interviews with livestock farmers, IoT providers, and stakeholders. Secondary data are based on government reports and various case studies across the globe. The result will be worthwhile as it will bring insights into socioeconomic benefits of the use of IoT in improving the output of livestock, reduction in mortality rates, and better use of resources. The research also portrays some challenges faced by the smallholder farmers, which are cost constraints, lack of technical expertise, and infrastructural limitations. Based on the above, the study proposes practical recommendations for the adoption of IoT technologies in the livestock sector through policy interventions, capacity-building programs, and development of affordable IoT solutions. This research helps to advance the frontiers of precision agriculture in Bangladesh, fostering sustainable and technology-driven livestock farming.
