Abstract
Academic dishonesty among students is a growing concern in higher education, especially in the context of rapidly evolving information and communication technology. The aim of this study is to identify the most prevalent methods of academically dishonest behavior among the students of American International University-Bangladesh. A quantitative research approach was utilized, which involved 69 randomly selected participants. Data were collected through a 15-item questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings of this study show that the most frequent academically unethical behavior among the students is looking up answers in the web when they are not allowed to, and the least concerning one is the usage of cheat sheets in offline exams. Overall, the results suggest that students engage more frequently in unethical behaviors in online settings, so it has been recommended to use open-ended or application-based questions in online exams, instead of fact-recall items.. However, limitations such as small sample size and reliance on self-reported data should be addressed in future research.
