Sloan Kulper, BGBC Advisory Board member and an internationally renowned social entrepreneur and Architect from MIT and current Vice President and Chief Design Officer of One Earth Designs, Inc., an international environmental technology firm, was also present at the event. Kulper worked at a US design consulting firm where he created new products for major international brands, developed biogas energy solutions in Bangladesh and helped launch a non-profit organization producing renewable energy kits for rural markets in Africa and Latin America. A winner of 2009 MIT IDEAS Competition and semifinalist of 2010 Harvard Business Plan, he also received funding from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and MIT Development Business Plan in 2010. Holly Battelle, former research assistant in the Macroeconomic Analysis Division at the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) working primarily with biannual economic forecasts for the US Congress focusing on the US housing market was also present at the event. Presently researching the feasibility of solar technology in urban Bangladesh, she also works on fiscal multipliers, climate change, forecast accuracy and the high employment budget model. American Fulbright Fellow, Jeremy Wendte who is studying the role of solar electrification in Bangladesh, by combining economic, social and technical investigation is working to present a clear and complete picture of the role of photovoltaic power in a developing nation such as Bangladesh. Steve Limpert, an American circumnavigator’s researcher, also researching Solar Technologies in Bangladesh was present at the event.
Aminul Islam, BGBC Society and Outreach Committee Member and the Project Coordinator of WBB Trust is an expert working with green cities who has been involved with different environmental and public health related movements in Bangladesh for the last 12 years. At the event, he talked about the national need for Environment Friendly Livable Cities and communities in Bangladesh. WBB Trust is the national advocate for a global initiative for sustainable cities worldwide under Canadian NGO Healthbridge.
